Taking Examinations:
Students are responsible for abiding by JCQ/awarding body regulations and college procedures. This information is made available to all students via the section in ‘MyView’. Parents/carers can view this information below, or via the Exams section of Parent Connect.
Contingency Days: Awarding bodies designate days following the summer exam timetable known as a Contingency Days. These are in place to be used in the event of a national or local incident when exams on a timetabled day may need to be moved. As more than one timetable date may be affected students must remain available up to and including the final contingency day. JCQ Contingency Dates for 2025; the awarding bodies have designated the afternoon session of Wednesday 11th June 2025 and the morning and afternoon sessions of Wednesday 25th June 2025 as 'contingency sessions' for examinations . All students need to ensure that they are available up to and including Wednesday 25th June 2025 should an awarding body need to invoke its contingency plan. These dates will also be added to student's summer exam timetables which can be viewed via the Exams section in MyView. Parents/carers can view student's timetable information via the Exams section of Parent Connect.
Coursework/NEA/Practical Assessments: Information regarding completion of this type of assessment and any deadlines that students must meet, are issued by each subject area. JCQ regulations apply to these assessments which are available on the Exam section in ‘MyView’. Parents/carers can view this information below, or via the Exams section of Parent Connect.
Accessing Results: Results for exams taken during the academic year are either accessed via the student’s ‘MyView’ area under the heading of ‘Exams’, or they are issued by departmental staff.
For results following the main summer exam series students can log on to their college MyView from 8.00am and access their statement of results. Results information is only given to the student they belong to. No information will be given over the telephone. If collection is by a third party then we will need a letter of authority from the student naming the representative A copy of the letter along with ID should be presented at the time of collection.
Post Results Services: Each of the awarding bodies offer an Enquiry About Results service following issue of results. Fees and strict deadlines are issued by the awarding bodies for each of these services and up-to-date information is issued to students prior to Results Day.
Certificates: Certificates issued by the awarding bodies are kept on file in the Examinations Department until a student has completed their Level 2/3 studies. Certificates from the main summer examination series are issued by the awarding bodies in early November. Once certificates have been collated for each student they are posted to the student’s home address using the second class Recorded Delivery service. This will be carried out over several weeks but if any student requires their certificates prior to posting they can be collected from the Examinations Department - these must be signed for. A representative may collect certificates on behalf of a student on production of a letter of authority from the student, naming the representative and the relationship with the representative (eg mother/father etc). E-mail authorisation from a student’s personal email sent to the Examinations Department is acceptable. See our Past Students Page for contact details and further information.
Any certificates returned by the postal service will be refiled and available for collection for up to 12 months from the date of issue after which time they will be confidentially destroyed.
