Our Mission

Our Mission

Holy Cross Sixth Form College is a Catholic college where history has endowed us with a clear tradition of caring for all who work and study here.

A Catholic college is a centre of community, life and study, which strives to be genuinely and fully human; bringing humanity to every aspect of college life.

It is a place where people can learn, grow and develop while feeling valued and accepted for who they are.

The College aims to offer to all – especially those who are disadvantaged and marginalised – the opportunity of an excellent education, and of human and Christian formation, enabling them to reach their full potential as unique individuals created in the image and likeness of God.

As a result, students develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to take advantage of the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences that prepare them for their next stage in education, training or employment.

This is achieved within a community imbued with the values of our founders, the Daughters of the Cross; those being joy, compassion, daring, vision, faith, humility and service.

Our vision of education at Holy Cross is inspired by the words of Pope Francis in his address at the Church for Schools Day in 2015. He explained that in order to reach our full potential, we need to learn the languages of the head, the heart and the hands and to do so in harmony so that we can not only think well, but also feel well and do well.

Think well do well Black

The spirit of the Gospel is at the heart of our way of life, relationships and community. Thus, we affirm the value and dignity of each member of the College – whether student, staff or governor – and have concern for the whole person and the uniqueness of the individual.

This entails sharing each other's strengths and being sensitive to one another's weaknesses, as well as striving for the highest expectations of personal growth and achievement. We aim for all members of our college to experience a genuine sense of belonging.
