The Chaplaincy plays a key role in fostering the mission and ethos at Holy Cross and strives to provide you with opportunities to develop spiritually, morally, and intellectually. We are proud of our Catholic tradition whilst also welcoming students and staff of all faiths. Our Lay Chaplain is part of the pastoral team and is always available to anyone who would like to share any joys, problems or difficulties. Also available is our Priest Chaplain, Fr. Francis Wadsworth, who is the Parish Priest of St Marie's & St Joseph's, Bury. There are many ways for us to develop our faith life, which is one reason we have a variety of opportunities on offer.
Holy Mass is celebrated regularly in term. Everyone is welcome, although no-one is compelled to come. Currently there is a weekly celebration of Mass in the new Chapel and when an important feast day occurs. Parents, local people and members of the Diocese are welcome to attend Mass at the College, but should make themselves known to the Reception first, so they can be escorted to the Chapel.
Holy Cross students play an important part in the annual Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes, and other pilgrimage opportunities. This is often the ideal opportunity for you to deepen your spiritual life at the same time as helping the disabled and senior citizens who otherwise could not go on pilgrimage.
From time to time other Pilgrimage opportunities may be offered e.g. Walsingham.
Students and staff have the opportunity to take part in residential retreats to Kintbury - a De La Salle retreat centre in Berkshire. Faith, fun and friendship make up the "Kintbury experience. "There may also be other, different retreat opportunities available from time to time.
Assemblies are an important part in the life of Holy Cross and give us the opportunity to come together as a community. Assemblies are student focussed and we welcome contributions from all students. We have assemblies to mark key times of year in the Christian calendar such as; Advent-Christmas, Lent-Easter, One World Week and to welcome you to the Holy Cross community and one to end our year.
There are many occasions to celebrate at Holy Cross. As well as our extensive Enrichment programme, a key time is One World Week. This is a special week of activities in the autumn term where we celebrate diversity and take action to increase equality, justice and sustainability both locally and globally.
Every year the College holds a special Christmas party for children with special needs.
Other celebrations include Fairtrade Fortnight and the annual leavers' ball.
