Last week, a group of Year 2 students headed to Poland as part of a Holocaust Awareness tour www.holocaust-awareness.org, supported by the Chesterhill Charitable Trust.
In addition to a tour of Krakow’s Jewish Quarter, students visited the sites of the former concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. The part of the tour that hit the hardest was hearing the testimonials of those who experienced the suffering of the camps. As survivor numbers dwindle, tours such as this become more vital.
The final part of the experience will involve students disseminating their experience within Core RE lessons.
