A level and BTEC Law Students visited Lancaster University.
We were welcomed at the campus underpass and had a 20 minute introductory talk in a seminar room in Fylde College before splitting into groups for a campus tour where we were able to see accommodation, the library and various lecture theatres and social spaces.
We enjoyed lunch before having a Law lecture with Professor Alisdair Gillespie who lectures in Criminal law & Justice and has previously had direct involvement in writing the law relating to offences against children. The lecture was about Cyber Fraud and was really interesting. We learned about people committing fraud on eBay by selling goods that didn't exist and some criminals committing online mortgage fraud (which is more interesting that it might sound!)
We had the opportunity to ask student ambassadors questions about university life and their experiences and we all learned a lot.
The organiser of the event at Lancaster University commented that our students were "excellent throughout the day" and HCC staff who attended would agree!
