This course has been designed for students who have previously achieved a grade 3 (or in some cases a grade E) in English Language GCSE. GCSE English is an important foundation for many of the courses you may take in employment or further education. Most colleges and universities require at least a grade 4 in GCSE English Language as an entry requirement, as do many jobs and careers. At Holy Cross students will take the AQA GCSE examinations, with the first opportunity to succeed coming in November. You will practise and develop skills of reading comprehension, creative writing, writing for different purposes and the development of spoken English. We also run an Improvers’ Group for those students who already have a grade 4 in English GCSE, but want to try and improve their grade.
Essential for most further and higher education courses as well as much vocational training.
Level: GCSE
Entry Requirements: 3 GCSE grades at 3 and above and one GCSE at grade 4.
