What will I be studying?

GCSE Art & Design (Graphics)
The course will feature some drawing and photography, developed through handmade and computer based design work towards a final piece, which will most often be computer based. Students will produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more area(s) including illustration, advertising, communication graphics, computer graphics, multimedia and/or web design.

GCSE Art & Design (Photography)
This course will feature photography, some darkroom, but predominantly digital work. Handmade and computer based development work will progress towards a final piece. Students will produce practical and critical/ contextual work in one or more area(s) including theme-based photography (portrait, landscape, still-life, reportage), experimental imagery, video and film.

Please note that both courses will be taught in one class, allowing students to choose, with advice from their teacher, which specification will be most suitable, following a common starting point. For this reason, it will not be possible to take both courses.

Assessment is through practical coursework, 60% and controlled examination 40%, supported by some written material.
