This course has been designed to provide an engaging and stimulating introduction into the world of business. It provides a great introduction to business for learners entering post-16 education.
The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Business could provide a starting point of a route into employment in many of the diverse areas of business, including roles in specialist areas such as marketing, finance, customer service or human resources in large businesses, or a more generic role in a small, local business. The BTEC first also provides a good platform to continue your studies onto Level 3 qualifications.
You will study 4 units in total. There are two core units: Enterprise in the Business World and Finance for Business. In these units you will have the opportunity to develop the key enterprise and financial skills and knowledge necessary to enable you to understand how businesses recognise opportunities, and build on them to succeed. You will then embark on two specialist units: Promoting a Brand and Principles of Customer Service. The course is assessed by one external examination (Finance for Business) and three internally assessed units which can vary in forms from written assignments to work experience.
The BTEC Business will help you to develop your literacy and numeracy skills in naturally occurring, relevant, work-related contexts. It will also help you if you have to re-sit your Maths or English GCSE.
