Student Evie leads Wear It Pink fundraiser in memory of her Mum

16th Oct 2026

Students and staff came together in various shades of pink to support Breast Cancer Now's Wear It Pink Day, raising money and awareness for a cause that holds special significance within our College community.

This year's event was led by Upper Sixth student Evie and members of the 4C Group, who organised a range of fundraising activities including a cake and treats stall, nail bar, face gems and the sale of pink ribbons.

The event was particularly meaningful as it was held in memory of Shouna Howe, Evie's mum, who worked in our Estates and Premises Team. She was also sister-in-law to John in our Catering Team.

Shouna was a much-loved colleague and friend who sadly passed away from breast cancer almost ten years ago.

Evie worked closely with the 4C Group and College staff to organise the event, helping to ensure that Shouna's legacy continues to be remembered by a new generation of Holy Cross students and staff.

A spokesperson for Breast Cancer Now said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came together to raise funds and awareness this October.

“We're so sorry to read about the loss of Shouna, and we'd like to thank Evie and her classmates for hosting such a meaningful event in her memory.

“Thank you for helping us get closer to a world where everyone with breast cancer will live and live well.”

The incredible response from students and staff demonstrated the strength of the Holy Cross community and its commitment to supporting important causes.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Wear It Pink Day such a special and successful event.
