World Mental Health Day (10th October) provided an important opportunity for our College community to come together, raise awareness and highlight the importance of supporting each other.
To mark the occasion, members of our Student Representative Committee (SRC) proudly wore yellow as part of YoungMinds' Hello Yellow campaign, a national initiative that encourages people to show support for children and young people's mental health.
The bright splash of yellow seen across College sparked conversations and served as a visible reminder that mental health matters every day, not just on World Mental Health Day.
The SRC organised a range of fun and interactive activities designed to bring students together over their lunch breaks.
From games and challenges to opportunities for students to meet new people and spend time with friends, the focus was on encouraging connection and creating positive experiences.
The event also reinforced a key message that we promote across College throughout the year – no one has to face challenges alone.
Whether through friendships, teachers, pastoral staff, support staff or student-led initiatives, Holy Cross is committed to creating an environment where every student feels valued, respected and supported.
A spokesperson from YoungMinds said: “Thank you so much for getting involved with Hello Yellow this year! We couldn't be more grateful for the support.
“A shared laugh or a new friendship really can change someone’s day, and it sounds like your students make a lot of those happen. Thank you for showing up in yellow”
We are incredibly proud of our SRC for leading the celebrations and helping to raise awareness in such a positive and engaging way. Their enthusiasm and willingness to support others reflect the strong sense of community that exists at Holy Cross.
